Memorial Space Honoring Iryna Farion

Lviv, Ukraine | 2026

To mark the second anniversary of the death of linguist, professor, and public figure Iryna Farion, a memorial space was inaugurated on Tomáš Masaryk Street in Lviv, the location where she was fatally wounded in 2024. The centerpiece of the memorial is a monumental copper stele integrated into the surrounding public square. The project was designed by Guess Line Architects.

The FIX Union team contributed to the fabrication and implementation of the memorial's key structural elements. The central stele was crafted from sheet copper—a material that naturally develops a protective patina over time, gradually changing its appearance under the influence of weather and environmental conditions. The structure features four perforated faces forming the words "Language," "Freedom," "Nation," and "Strength." At its core stands a monolithic limestone element engraved with selected quotations by Iryna Farion, serving as both the physical and symbolic heart of the memorial.

Throughout the project, particular attention was paid to the precision of metal fabrication, the quality of surface finishing, structural integrity, and the long-term durability of the materials. The engineering solutions ensure the stability of the structure, resistance to outdoor conditions, and preservation of its aesthetic qualities for decades to come.

The memorial combines architecture, urban design, and symbolism to create a space for remembrance, reflection, and public engagement. For FIX Union, contributing to this project represented far more than the delivery of a manufactured structure—it was an opportunity to apply the company's engineering expertise to a landmark public space that preserves collective memory and will continue to serve future generations.
