FIX Street Furniture in the Courtyard of the Z40 Residential Complex in Lviv: A Space Awarded a National Prize

Contemporary public spaces have long moved beyond purely utilitarian improvement and the formal set of elements such as a bench by an apartment entrance. Today, they shape quality of life, influence social interaction, and become an integral part of a city’s architectural identity. One such space is the inner courtyard of the Z40 residential complex on Zamartynivska Street in Lviv, where FIX street furniture has been installed.

The project, implemented in collaboration with the developer Budynky ta Liudy for the Urbanideas concept, received a First Degree Award of the Ukrainian National Landscape Architecture and Design Award in 2025, the country’s leading professional event in the fields of landscape architecture, urbanism, and environmental design.

Street Furniture for Residential Complexes

Z40 represents a new concept of multifunctional real estate in Lviv, combining privacy, personal space, and respect for the city’s historical character. The main façade of the apart-hotel is set back from Zamartynivska Street, and together with three other sections forms a spacious inner courtyard with its own distinctive microclimate.

The courtyard features a Lviv-style café on the ground floor, environmentally friendly play areas for children, green oases for relaxation, and thoughtfully designed spaces for social interaction. Within this environment, FIX street furniture performs not only a functional role but also a social one, supporting the spatial logic and daily use of the courtyard.

National Recognition

The Ukrainian National Landscape Architecture and Design Award, founded by the National Union of Architects of Ukraine in collaboration with Landscape and Architecture magazine, is the country’s key professional distinction for architects, designers, urban planners, and students in related fields. The recognition of the Z40 project as a First Degree laureate in 2025 confirms the relevance of an integrated approach to shaping urban spaces, where high-quality street furniture is an essential component of architectural solutions.
